SEA-WATCH

Presentation & open discussion by Nani Bengel

The Sea-Watch sails in the bay of La Coruna, Spain, May 22, 2015. Sea-Watch is both a ship and a private initiative to rescue refugees in the Mediterranean and to highlight their plight. Harald Höppner, a German with no previous sea faring experience, founded it. Currently, the crew sails the Sea-Watch from Hamburg to Lampedusa, where it will be based between rescue missions. The next stop on the route is Lisbon, Portugal.

Nani spend 1 month this summer working together with Sea-Watch, an European NGO that secures maritime escape routes to Europe and helps refugees in life threatening situations on the sea. She was among the volunteer crew aboard MS Sea-Watch and will share with us her experiences in form of images, talk and open discussion.
